Grand Teton Hiking - Grand Teton National Park Highlights

Introduction.

The intent of this post is to provide a "quick guide" to Grand Teton hiking activities, in a bullet format, which can be used for your planning purposes.

Grand Teton National Park has spectacular mountain ranges, abundant wildlife, acts as a southern gateway into Yellowstone National Park, and receives over 3,000,000 visitors each year.

General logistics information.

There are multiple lodging options within the boundaries of the park, from upscale hotels to camping locations. Additionally, depending on the direction you are approaching from, there are multiple entry points, either from the south, the north, or the east. There are also multiple locations to get food within the park and a limited number of locations to get gas.

Note: In addition to suggestions below, there are many roadside pullouts that provide magnificent views, so allow yourself time to make some unscheduled stops.

Grand Teton Hiking:

  • Snake River Overlook.
  • Not necessarily for hiking, though worth the view from where Ansel Adams took his famous Snake River picture.

  • Schwabacher's Landing.
  • A roadside stop offering incredible views of the Teton range.
  • There are only some short hiking opportunities at this stop.

  • Taggart Lake Trailhead.
  • Relatively easy loop hike.
  • Beautiful views of Taggart Lake and the Grand Tetons.

  • Signal Mountain Summit.
  • While hiking to the summit is an option, I would recommend driving to Signal Mountain Summit.
  • Hike around the summit for great long range views.

  • Jenny Lake.
  • Suggested you take the boat ride to the path for Hidden Falls.
  • Hike to Hidden Falls.
  • Continue on for the challenging hike to Inspiration Point.
  • Enjoy the views from the 7,200 foot elevation.
  • Skip the return boat ride and hike back to your origination point.

  • Lakeshore Trail.
